marcus' sceptile leads the way through the cave system ahead of them. the weighted pressure panel at the entrance of the cave implies the existence of other manmade inventions within, so he isn't keen on having himself or bryan delarosa be the one to step on any traps.

as he starts to light a cigarette as he walks he notices the sceptile stop with his detect, grimmsnarl suddenly standing at attention as well. His pokemon stop but he continues to walk, as if confronting whatever it was that the sceptile managed to find a she stared straight ahead.

He frowns "Well where the fuck is it then?" as he tries to peer into the darkness, however as he leaves forward and away from marcus kotov a clicking noise triggers under his boot as suddenly pink mist spewed into the hallway "Shit!" he says remembering this stuff from the star soiree. "what did you — " do? he means to ask, but the cave walls begin to sweat interdream mist. it fills the hall, swirling in a noxious cloud all around them. a meaty hand grabs onto him and drags him stumbling towards bryan. The scene changes and a beast growls from behind them as their thoughts start to manifest. "Watch out!" he says as he pushes Marcus out of the way of the strike that the unseen pokemon had unleashed upon them. A strange looking jigglypuff stared them both down as it rescinds it's tail, as it roars at the duo. "What the fuck IS that?" [break][break]

It starts to rush towards them again intent on using play rough as Bryan's Grimmsnarl leaps in and unleashes a FALSE SURRENDER. sharpening the hair on it's arm into a sharp knife intent on jabbing the creature. [break][break]

"Strike it marcus!" he says as the false surrender wasn't enough to knock it out.

the hand that had drawn him close suddenly shoves him away. he puts his hands out and catches himself against the cave wall with a grunt, feeling the air tug at his clothing as the unknown pokemon's attack whizzes by. he looks to bryan delarosa first, then follows his gaze toward the strange jigglypuff roaring at them. [break][break]"a paradox pokemon," he suggests, voice rough and carrying a note of uncertainty like he doesn't bear much trust his own answer — and he doesn't, not on his second encounter with one. [break][break]the cave-dwelling creature lunges out of the dark, but bryan's grimmsnarl intercepts with an attack of its own. [break][break]marcus' sceptile bristles, awaiting an order. the false surrender strikes the scream tail, then marcus jabs a finger in its direction at the beast's command. [break][break]"end this," he grinds out. the grass-type slides a foot forward against the cave floor, firm yet innocuous. the ground rumbles with the motion, then splinters upward into the scream tail. [break][break]

The rock tomb jutters out of the ground, fragmented rocks upper cutting it and sticking onto the target in an attempt to trap it in place as Grimmsnarl backs up. "Now that it's stuck, Hammer arm!" he orders as the grimmsnarl puts it's hands together and the individual strands of hair come together as one unit to form a comically oversized hammer and brings it down upon the scream tail. [break][break]

It fights back, using METRONOME as the move turns into "COUNTER" taking the hit on the head and then sending that power back to the grimmsnarl and sending it flying back. "Shit!" he says as Bryan smashes his fist into the floor and starts to throw heavy stones at the scream tail. "We need to inflict statuses on it, are all of these shits that strong?!" he asks as hopefully marcus knew more about these pokemon than he.

[break][break] he watches through the haze as the three-way battle becomes a four-way as the beast starts hurling stones at the paradox pokemon. at bryan's behest, he reaches for his belt, fingers sliding over slick metal as he filters through his pokemons' movesets in his head. [break][break]"statuses ... " he murmurs contemplatively to himself as he palms one of his poke balls. [break][break]
with a flick of his wrist, his shiinotic appears, blending into the ever-thickening pink fog. [break][break]"spore!" [break][break]his command rings hollow off the cave walls. the mushroom pokemon shudders, releasing a cloud of sleep-inducing spores into the air. sceptile steps backwards, then pivots on a heel, lashing its frond-covered tail to stir the air and encourage the spores in the scream tail's direction.

they settle over the enraged pokemon. it rages against the pull of sleep with one last, ear-piercing hyper voice, then succumbs to it. it collapses into a snoring slump against one of the jutting rocks containing it.

"should we capture it?" he muses, seeking out bryan through the mist. "or kill it?"
